During my Winter Research Internship at IIT Delhi in the Ion Channel and Receptor Biology Lab (KSBS), I worked on computational neuroscience and biologically realistic neuron modeling using the NEURON simulation environment. My work involved exploring ion-channel kinetics, spike generation dynamics, and implementing Hodgkin–Huxley neuron models through hoc scripting to study complex neural behaviors.
I also worked on Project "Machine Learning-Enabled Drug Toxicity Prediction, " an XGBoost-based machine learning framework for drug toxicity prediction using molecular descriptors and Morgan fingerprints. Performed data preprocessing, feature engineering, cheminformatics analysis with RDKit, and model evaluation, achieving an AUC-ROC of 0.82, recall of 0.94, and F1-score of 0.79. This project provided valuable experience in computational biology, drug discovery, and interpretable AI, while strengthening my interest in the intersection of neuroscience, mathematics, and machine learning.
